The last thing that most of us will ever expect to become is disabled. When we are in the prime of our lives, we feel invincible and that we can take on the world. However, later in life we may come in contact with something or someone that changes our lives forever. As a result, we may find ourselves disabled and unable to work. When this happens, it is vital that we seek out a disability support coordination to help us get what it is we need.
Discovering the level of needed support
When we become disabled, we are most often still able to function on some level. For the majority of people however, being able to constantly sustain physical activity to the level we were in the past is now impossible. As such, in an evaluation we are needed to determine what we can and can’t do.
Once some of these areas are determined a progression forward over the next couple of years will be done. This will help show what will happen over the next few years, where we will be and much more. It is very important to have this information as to determining the level of support you will receive.
You need to file as soon as possible. If you fail to file your claim can be denied and the process will have to be started all over again. When you file this will be the starting date that they will use to determine when and what you will receive in support. If you wait too long then this money will not be paid out.
Most cases will take several years and will go through a lot of hoops. In most cases your first claim will be denied but once you appeal it will go through the process of acceptance. This can be a very time consuming and stressful process. Be patient. It will pay off in the end.
