Tuesday, November 15, 7:00 p.m., Main Auditorium, La Crosse Public Library, 9th and Main Streets.
On November 15, historian and genealogist Wayne Kling will give a presentation describing the service of Ho-Chunk and other Native American warriors in the American civil war. Many Ho-Chunk warriors from Wisconsin served in the Union Army during the civil war.
Mr. Kling is a retired military veteran, having served 30 years in the United States Army. He is a long-time civil war collector and historian and is currently employed as a security officer for the Ho-Chunk Nation. Wayne is also a member and past secretary of the Monroe, Juneau and Jackson County Genealogical Society, the American Legion, and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Old Abe Camp No. 8 at Omro, Wisconsin.
Join us for what will be a very informative discussion of this relatively unknown story of the Ho-Chunk nation’s service in the civil war. Wayne’s presentation begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Auditorium of the La Crosse Public Library, 8th and Main Streets. Free and open to the public.

Karen will provide guidance on finding and using Civil War records and on identifying and working with the many historical records that can help you learn more about your ancestor’s civil war experiences.
